NTN Facts
NTN, since 1988, has a been a leader in making television programming and movies
accessible for our nation's 13 million blind and visually impaired people and their
families.NTN unobtrusively adds the voice of a narrator to the existing programming sound track without interfering with any of the original audio or video. NTN was founded in 1988 by blind and visually impaired people who understand the frustration of not being able to access the entertainment, education, and socialization opportunities that television provides. NTN has received an EMMY Award, a MEDIA ACCESS Award from the television and movie industry, an INTERNATIONAL FILM AND VIDEO Award, and a GOLDEN GEORGI, which is the top script-writing honor from The Writers Foundation of America. NTN has enjoyed positive publicity, including features on CNN, Good Morning America, and in The Wall Street Journal and TV Guide. NTN also makes live theatre and other special events accessible, via a wireless receiver, for the blind and visually impaired community, such as the Tony Award-winning Broadway show The Will Rogers Follies, the world-renowned Phantom of the Opera, and the Academy Award-winning IMAX production of The Old Man and the Sea. NTN has received top honors from the American Council of the Blind, as well as the American Foundation for the Blind, for its pioneering work in making the world of television accessible to visually impaired people. NTN has over two decades of experience in narrating programming for broadcast, cable, and satellite. NTN has narrated thousands of hours of programming, including shows such as Law & Order, Matlock, Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show, etc., as well as hundreds of movies. NTN was selected by the American Foundation for the Blind to narrate its landmark video What Do You Do When You See A Blind Person?
